Looking Back on 2006
January 1, 2007

It's hard to believe that 2006 is over! Looking back on the year, I realize what a great year it was. Thank you to all of you who came out to see me on the road, checked out my albums, and gave me your love and support. Here's a quick look back at the highlights of 2006.

Blind Pig
This year started out with a bang: Signing a multi-record deal with blues powerhouse Blind Pig in January. This will be my first distributed album and I'm looking forward to all the new listeners and adventures that will come from it.

Mexico
In March, I spent three weeks in Zihuatanejo, Mexico, soaking up the sun during the day and playing blues all night at The Blue Mamou. What a great time! Sadly the Blue Mamou has since closed, I feel like I lost a good friend. I will miss all the folks that I met in Mexico, but I hope to see you again out on the road in the U.S.A.

Anson Funderburgh
I toured a little with Anson Funderburgh in 2005 and 2006. I was helping out in the absence of the legendary Sam Meyers who sadly past away last year. He will be missed. I had a great time performing with Anson's band The Rockets, as well as performing almost thirty years worth of hits from the band's enormous repertoire. Two of my favorite shows with them were from 2005 at the Delta Blues Festival in Greenville, Mississippi, and the Arkansas Blues & Heritage Festival (formerly known as the King Biscuit Blues Festival) in Helena, Arkansas.

Europe
I was slated to tour Europe with Anson Funderburgh when, at the last minute, Anson couldn't go. I called up longtime friend Junior Watson to help us out. We hit the Netherlands, Germany, France, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. It was a huge success!

Austin Recording
In June, I went to Austin to record my album forBlind Pig. We recorded at famed engineer Stewart Sullivan's studio. Among the players on the project were Anson Funderburgh, Junior Watson, The Rockets and The Texas Horns. Pure magic! The album will be released at the end of this month!

Sweden
I toured Sweden in October. It was a great success! I met so many wonderful people. The Swedish band Trick Bag, who backed me up, was terrific. Even though I was clear across the pond the music felt right at home. I look forward to going back soon.

Home
In addition to all of the exciting travel, I always enjoy playing at home for the music lovers on the West Coast, as well as playing with all of the fantastic musicians in the Bay Area.

Looking forward to 2007

I am very excited about the new album "Magic Touch " and hope that all of you will get the chance to hear it. The release date is January 30, 2007. Ask for it at your favorite record shop!

I'm grateful for your support in 2006 and over all of the years! None of this would be possible without you and your passion for great music. More good things lie ahead for 2007. Keep checking the web site for more info. Hope to see you on the road in 2007.

Thanks again for all of your support!
John Németh
